The Ecowise project stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability within Hume’s industrial landscape. Being the first building in a new subdivision, it posed unique challenges that demanded meticulous planning and creative solutions within tight constraints.
The facility’s primary function is to serve as a consolidated logistics hub for managing Ecowise’s operations. In addition to this, ancillary spaces were incorporated to accommodate various needs, including offices, bathrooms, and tea rooms. To meet the project’s objectives while adhering to budgetary and time constraints, shed-like construction methods were employed. This involved utilising a combination of precast concrete and steel, ensuring the project’s brief and budget were met while seamlessly integrating into the surrounding landscape with recessive tones.
Drawing inspiration from Ecowise’s rich history and expertise in civil electrical and IT solutions, the design of the building’s street facade pays homage to early computing. The playful window arrangements evoke the symbolism of punch cards, a nod to the company’s technological roots. Furthermore, the client’s logo takes centre stage, boldly reinterpreted as a bright yellow 3D canopy over the entrance. This striking feature not only adds a unique touch but also serves as a visual representation of Ecowise’s brand identity, all achieved without compromising the project’s budget or program.
