The Griffith Home is a carefully designed, custom-built residence that balances heritage-inspired character with contemporary functionality. Designed for a growing family, the home provides adaptable living spaces, enhanced energy efficiency, and a high level of craftsmanship to support long-term comfort and usability.
Located in a well-established Canberra suburb, the project was delivered through a collaborative partnership between Adhami Pender Architecture and Third Generation Building.
With the clients residing overseas throughout the design and construction process, trust, clarity, and consistent communication were fundamental. We translated the clients’ aspirations into a highly functional and carefully detailed home, while Third Generation Building executed the construction with precision and attention to detail.
Key design elements include flexible living areas, a double-glazed glass atrium to improve daylight access and natural ventilation, and a high-performance building envelope incorporating insulated slabs, airtight construction, and energy-efficient glazing. Internally, the home blends classic and contemporary influences through heritage-inspired materials, a sculptural staircase, and refined detailing throughout.
Construction challenges, including complex service coordination and bespoke detailing, were carefully managed to achieve a seamless balance between architectural intent and modern comfort. The project’s commitment to quality was reflected in a service technician’s remark: “Whoever built your home did an incredible job. It’s absolutely pristine up there.”
The Griffith Home stands as a testament to collaborative excellence in custom residential design, delivering an enduring, energy-efficient, and highly liveable family home.
