Meet Shweta Dhongde

We would like to introduce our newest team member at APA, Shweta Dhongde, Graduate of Architecture. We asked Shweta a few questions to help you get to know her a little better.

Why architecture?

Architecture for me, is a way of expression. It excites for me the variety of projects and scales we get to work on and being a part of this process is very rewarding and fulfilling. I am passionate in involving myself in culturally engaging and environmentally sensitive projects which represent human interaction with the built environment.

What did you study?

I completed my undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Architecture from India and postgraduate degree, Master of Architecture from Deakin University, Geelong, VIC.

What is your dream project?

I am greatly inspired by the integration of craftsmanship with architecture. My dream project is to work on a proposal which is in collaboration with artists, architects, and master builders (craftsmen), using traditional construction techniques and materials, representing context, and connecting modernism to vernacular construction. Creating spaces that are thoughtful, mindful, and generous.

Who are you outside of the office?

Outside the office I enjoy travelling, exploring new places and architecture, and meeting new people. I strongly believe in serving the community hence I involve myself in various volunteering projects. Apart from this, I enjoy fabric designing, painting, reading growth focused books and yoga.
